COMMUNITY CHAPLAINS

AEF Family and Youth Services currently has a number of Volunteer Chaplains who share the love of God in practical ways by supporting the hurting and assisting people to find help when it’s needed. Our Chaplains are experienced people; mostly husband and wife teams who have a great big heart to help. Among the many things they do, they are called on to: Conduct funerals, Visit the sick, Attend homes for support, Journey with people though life’s struggles, Offer prayers and provide spiritual care, Conduct services, Visit the elderly, Support parents, Support homework classes, Visit prisons, etc…

The AEFFYS supports experienced Chaplains or couples with a little each week to engage with people who need their support across Australia. That support takes on many forms. Occasionally it’s with food or practical items. Sometimes by being the one to advocate for people in crisis. Often to visit; this can be at their homes, hospitals, aged care centres, and more.

Our Chaplains regularly attend community events and speak as  elders and leaders within the local communities. Weddings, funerals, church services…you name it! Many times support is offered through phone calls, FB messenger, emails etc. This is a new means to convey an old message – Jesus is our Hope and He cares for You right where you are!

They are based in Perth, Bunbury, Eden, Port Stephens, Cummeragunja. People from all over the country call on these very compassionate people.

It really means a lot” –  (An elder living alone, speaking on a visit from our Chaplains during the lockdowns.)  From Neville and Lorraine Lilley –“We appreciate the partnership in ministry with the folk who support the AEF/FYS Community Chaplaincy work. This help is so valuable. Thank you”
